About

Jennifer Turner - Interior Architectural designer

I have over 23 years’ experience working in the design industry, working alongside designers, architects, cabinetmakers and furniture makers, to create innovative, inspirational residential and bespoke hospitality spaces.

Design Philosophy

I value the charm and history of a building or a space, and the use of natural and quality finishes. I also understand the importance of high-end spatial awareness through the use of good ergonomics.

With a focus on quality, I pay attention to junctions and detail while utilising real, natural finishes. My aesthetic is one of calm and timelessness rather than one that follow fashions of the moment. And the individual needs of the person using the space is fundamental to all my designs.

With a passion for design, I support the design industry by specifying original designs for the fixtures and fittings which finish the spaces I design. I believe in working with smaller amounts of better quality materials, which also consider environmental sustainability and animal welfare.

“It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living”

— Sir David Attenborough

Design education and experience

Originally from Oxfordshire, I graduated in 2000 with Bachelor of Arts degree in 3 Dimensional Design (Interior Architecture) from De Montfort University in the UK and quickly gained global design experience working on projects from London to Dubai, and to Australia.

After the completion of my degree, I began my design career in London as a junior designer for a small boutique design firm, working on a variety of projects, such as retail, hospitality and residential design.

With the office located close to the Design Museum and living the London lifestyle, my first job was fuelled with design inspiration and education which enabled my growth and development.

Next, I worked for a larger firm specialising in hospitality design, servicing designs for high end hotels and resorts around the world. I loved living and working in London and the city gave me the best industry learning experience. But after five years, I moved to beautiful Western Australia. Here I’ve worked predominantly in the residential sector for various architecture practices and alongside residential architects, designing the interior spaces of their architectural projects.

Setting up Turner Bespoke Design

I established my business in 2013, while lecturing part-time in interior architecture to university students in Perth, WA. To start with I specialised in individual interior projects, including new builds and renovations, and have since gone on to also offer loose custom furniture design, as part of my services portfolio.
